This strategy can work on multiple instruments, especially in forex. For example, on the Gold 5min chart, moving averages cross over has a high success rate, and this is how it works.

We use two simple moving averages: one is 50 period SMA, and the other is 20 period SMA. Whenever a smaller moving average (20 SMA) crosses above the bigger moving average (50 SMA), it provides buying opportunities. On the other hand, when a bigger moving average (50 SMA) crosses over the smaller moving average (20 SMA), it provides selling opportunities.

How to scalp with moving averages cross over

As you can see in the given chart, when the 20 SMA crosses over 50 SMA after the decline, it provides many buying opportunities to enter multiple times. You may add or open new positions when the price touches the 20 SMA along the way.

In the opposite scenario, when the 50 SMA crosses over 20 SMA after a bull run, it provides many selling opportunities to enter multiple times. You may add or open new positions when the price touches the 20 SMA along the way.
